Our Matcha

Where is Yasugi Matcha from?
Yasugi Matcha sources matcha from Uji, Japan, renowned for its exceptional quality and rich flavour. Uji has a centuries-old tradition of cultivating high-quality green tea due to its unique climate, fertile soil and traditional cultivation methods. The tea plants are grown in shaded conditions, a process called "tana", which increases the chlorophyll and enhances the amino acid profile, particularly L-theanine. After harvest, the leaves are steamed, dried and stone-ground into fine powder.

Why Yasugi Matcha?
Yasugi (やすぎ) is derived from the Japanese word 'Yasuragi' which means a state of calmness and tranquility. It embodies the essence of our matcha and its benefits. With our perfectly balanced blend of matcha, it offers more than just a drink - it's an experience that is both rich and soothing.
1. Premium Blend: Our matcha is crafted primarily from the Samidori (早緑) cultivar, known for its vibrant green, rich umami flavour and smooth, balanced taste. Our experienced tea masters from Japan carefully select and blend the highest-quality matcha to create a distinctive and full-bodied experience that stands out from the rest.
2. First Harvest: Only leaves from the first harvest (early spring) are used. First harvest leaves are the most sought after because they offer the freshest and most flavorful matcha with the highest level of nutrients and antioxidants, which set it apart from the later harvests.
3. Commitment to Quality: Our tea factory's unwavering commitment to quality drives every step of the production. From carefully selecting the best tea farms to hand-picking the leaves and stone-grinding process, every effort is made to preserve the quality of our matcha.
We believe you have to experience it for yourself to truly appreciate the quality. We promise it would not disappoint.
